Trangia

For over 70 years, Trangia has been manufacturing camping stoves in the Jämtland village of Trångsviken. These stoves are as essential in the mountains as trail markers. Thanks to a collaboration with Lindevalls, the stove cases are now available in a sustainable version—made from recycled wool.

Broad Expertise and Understanding

Trangia, known for its strong sustainability profile, had the idea a few years ago to use waste materials from another Jämtland company, Woolpower, which manufactures merino wool base layers. This led to the introduction of seven different stylish and practical cases in their product range.

To achieve the right functionality and appearance, Trangia chose to collaborate with Lindevalls—a choice that was no coincidence. Magnus Rydell, CEO of Trangia, explains that Lindevalls’ broad expertise and understanding of the outdoor industry made the process from idea to finished product seamless.

“They made it incredibly easy for us to realize the idea. They helped us both in developing the concept around the products and practically with creating cutting files, etc. Without them, this wouldn’t have been possible!” says Magnus Rydell.

Sustainable with a Local Supplier

Sustainability has been a cornerstone for Trangia since its inception. They take pride in maintaining their operations in the small village of Trångsviken, which also influences their choice of suppliers. They prefer them to be in Sweden, ideally in Jämtland.

“It feels good from an environmental perspective to collaborate with Lindevalls. Apart from reducing waste by using recycled wool, we can also minimize carbon emissions during transportation. Additionally, we know that the employees have good working conditions,” says Magnus Rydell.

Small and Large Orders Welcome

Magnus also highlights other benefits of collaborating with a local, family-owned company instead of larger suppliers in China, for example. There’s much greater flexibility regarding order sizes.

“Lindevalls is responsive, and it’s a huge advantage that we can place smaller orders with short notice, while they have the capacity to produce large volumes when needed,” says Magnus Rydell.
